The Role:
So, what will you be doing as an Engineering Manager - Complex Projects?
- Manage engineering delivery across the torpedo defence portfolio, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering collaboration to create innovative solutions.
- Deliver complex engineering projects with a focus on product-based engineering and cost-efficient, compliant solutions.
- Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures, define delivery strategies, and build robust engineering plans.
- Engage with senior leadership and stakeholders, presenting project progress and aligning strategies for engineering and project success.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle, including estimation, risk management, design gate reviews, and production readiness.
What are we looking for in our next Engineering Manager - Complex Projects?
- Proven experience in Engineering Manager or Engineering Lead roles within maritime, sonar, or acoustics sectors.
- Strong background in managing complex engineering projects, including experience in work package management and product-based engineering.
- Experience managing multiple teams and providing technical leadership to drive project goals.
- Skilled in engineering estimation, able to review, challenge, and defend estimates to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in creating Work Breakdown Structures and defining delivery strategies.
- Familiarity with Lifecycle Management processes and the different stages of project design, from bid to production readiness.
- Ability to influence programme decisions for cost-effective, compliant solutions.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management, including the SLT and CEO.
- Background in coaching or mentoring teams to foster talent and improve performance.
