We are currently seeking a candidate to join an outstanding growing 2nd line team, with expertise in actively managing and troubleshooting Linux infrastructure. The team's responsibilities cover a broad range, so having broader technology experience would be advantageous for success in this role. This position is within the Service Operations team, which supports various Managed Service contracts using the ITIL framework.

The Role:

So, what will you be doing as an Infrastructure Engineer?

  • Supporting RedHat servers and associated open-source toolsets.
  • Managing server, virtualization, and storage environments.
  • Troubleshooting and supporting network systems across various platforms in remote settings.
  • Resolving reported faults escalated by the Service Desk to 2nd Line Support within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensuring accurate recording of all actions taken on issues and incidents in the Service Management toolset.
  • Deploying both standard and complex changes to customers' infrastructures.
  • Managing testing and rollout of security patches, software upgrades, and new software applications.
  • Participating in project work for new system implementations and changes resulting from continuous service improvement plans.
  • Investigating opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Developing technical procedures that can be operated and managed by support teams.

What are we looking for in our next Infrastructure Engineer?

  • Linux OS (RHEL and/or CentOS)
  • Open-source management toolsets (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet etc.)
  • Configuration management tools (git/tortoise/subversion etc)
  • VMware ESX and vCenter
  • Windows Server Active Directory environment

Desirable

  • Linux maintenance tools (e.g. Satellite, Spacewalk)
  • Containerisation tools (Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes etc.)
  • Other Virtualisation environments (OpenStack, Hyper-V, RHEV/RHV/KVM etc)
  • Networking LAN/WAN (Ideally Cisco, Juniper & Fortinet)
  • Public Cloud services (Azure, AWS, M365)
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM / SCCM)
  • Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Backup and Restore (EMC and Veeam)
  • IT Service Management toolsets
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Icinga)
  • Secure managed WLAN (e.g. Aruba, Meraki or similar)
  • Storage technologies (EMC VNX, unity, DataDomain, Brocade FC, iSCSI etc)
  • Security assurance products (device control, antivirus solutions, MDM etc)
