So, what will you be doing as a Lead Production & In-Service Support Engineer?

As a Lead Production & In-Service Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of in-service products. Your multifaceted expertise will span across various disciplines, including Systems, ISS and Production, Electronics, and Mechanical engineering. Here's what your role will entail:

  • Production Support for Sonobuoys: Provide comprehensive support for the manufacturing process.
  • Leadership and Coordination: Oversee and coordinate engineering support activities within the production environment.
  • Supply Chain/Production Issues: Address and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in the supply chain and production.
  • Production Acceptance: Lead the acceptance activities through rigorous range testing.
  • Failure Assessment: Evaluate production and range failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Product Design Maintenance: Serve as the engineering lead for the maintenance of in-service Sonobuoys, including obsolescence resolution and documentation upkeep.
  • Customer Liaison: Act as the primary engineering interface with customers, presenting design changes and modifications, managing ILS aspects such as stock management and refilling, and providing technical support for Sonobuoy usage and associated systems.
  • Ad-hoc Tasking: Lead design studies, trade studies, and other customer-requested tasks as needed.

What are we looking for in our next Lead Production & In-Service Support Engineer?

We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record in engineering management and team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of complex engineering in regulated industries and have extensive experience leading development across the product lifecycle. Key qualifications include:

  • Systems Engineering Foundation: Solid grounding in Systems Engineering with a good grasp of Software Engineering principles. A background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.
  • Engineering Scheduling: Demonstrated ability to create and manage engineering schedules with clear dependencies.
  • Engineering Estimation: Expertise in producing and reviewing engineering estimates, with the ability to challenge and justify them effectively.
  • Risk Management: Proficient in managing risks, assumptions, issues, decisions, and opportunities within an engineering context.
  • Work Package Management: Experience in Work Package Management is preferred.
  • Sonar Knowledge: Familiarity with sonar systems is advantageous but not essential.
