Senior Product Safety Engineer

Location: Bristol (north) with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000

Overview: Join an esteemed Product Safety Team in Bristol, a leader in safety engineering within the Military Air Sector. You'll contribute to iconic RAF projects ensuring the safety and integrity of products throughout their lifecycle.
Collaborate with Chief Engineers and be instrumental in developing the future generation of fighters, focusing on airworthiness and product integrity in a digital landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Analysis: Conduct safety evaluations for aircraft and support products, from concept to qualification. This includes Preliminary Hazard Identification, System/Sub-System Hazard Analysis, HAZOP, System Safety Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis, and Event Tree Analysis.
• Safety Justifications: Provide safety certification arguments and evidence for platform and support products.
• Risk Assessments: Perform risk assessments for weapon platforms and support products to ensure continued airworthiness.
• Customer Coordination: Manage delivery timelines with customers.
• Task Allocation: Assign tasks to qualified team members and oversee their career development.
• Executive Liaison: Ensure team availability and qualifications align with project needs.
• Certification Support: Generate and review Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports and maintain hazard logs.

Skills and Experience:

• Safety Engineering: Strong background in Safety Engineering with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Education: HND/HNC/Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

• Aerospace Knowledge: Experience in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Systems or Mechanical Engineering, particularly in a military airborne platform design environment.
• Safety Standards: Familiarity with any of the safety standards, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761 or EN 61508.
• Safety Tools: Proficiency with tools like Fault Tree Analysis +, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation (GSN).
