Supplier Quality Representative


Pay rate: DOE
Contract length: 6 months
Role Location: Home Based Role, with travel to Supplier sites across the UK.

Are you looking to join a multinational aerospace corporation renowned for its innovative contributions to aviation, space exploration, and defence technology? With a rich history spanning over a century, they have established as a global leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of commercial airplanes, defence systems, and space exploration technologies.

Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Specialist position in the UK. In this role, you will take the lead in conducting comprehensive audits and assessments of our suppliers' intricate systems, processes, and products, including the inspection of various hardware and assemblies.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducts audits and assessments on supplier systems, processes, and products to ensure adherence to technical and contractual standards.
  • Investigates special processes related to rejected products, escapements, and failures.
  • Documents and communicates audit findings and assessment outcomes.
  • Inspects and verifies products to ensure compliance with various technologies and commodities requirements.
  • Performs conformity inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Manages supplier notifications for quality escapes and evaluates Root Cause Analysis and corrective action plans, supporting improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in evaluating supplier capability and capacity for current and potential future work.
  • Provides education and coaching to suppliers on quality systems, regulatory compliance, and company initiatives for enhancing performance and productivity.
  • Monitors and supports quality improvement efforts at suppliers, developing training materials and resources for enhancing performance and productivity.
  • Assists in selecting new suppliers or approving additional processes.
  • Collaborates with mentoring team members on supplier performance education for succession planning.
  • Provides technical support on special processes at assigned suppliers.
  • Supports regulatory agency audits, such as FAA inspections.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Previous experience conducting audits and quality assessments within the aerospace sector.
  • Employment history at a company or government entity supplying parts or services to the aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with the requirements outlined in AS9100 and AS9102.
  • Understanding of D1-4426 and NADCAP standards.
  • Proficiency in Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Effective communication skills with stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Capability and technical proficiency to lead and conduct source inspections on diverse hardware and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Certified Lead Auditor in AS/EN9100 with expertise as an Aerospace Auditor (AA) or Aerospace Experienced Auditor (AEA).
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in Quality Management Systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in Special Processes.
  • Direct involvement with various special processes such as heat treating, composites, chemical processing, shot peening, non-destructive testing, and precision cleaning, including performing the process, engineering it, or conducting laboratory testing.
  • Capable of conducting supplier audits to assess compliance with technical and contractual standards.
  • Proven track record in developing supplier improvement plans and strategies, delivering training, and providing coaching.

Typical Education/Experience:
Typically, the requisite education and experience are obtained through an advanced degree from a four-year college or university in fields such as Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or other disciplines related to special processes. This is coupled with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may also suffice.
