Job Title: Senior Product Safety Engineer
Location: Bristol - Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available
Salary: £50,000-£65,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Product Safety Engineer to join our dynamic Product Integrity Team in Bristol. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of aircraft systems, sub-systems, and support products throughout their lifecycle. You will work closely with customers, executive leadership, and technical teams to manage safety requirements, certification processes, and emergent risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaise with customers to define and agree on delivery timescales.
Allocate tasks to qualified team members and provide leadership, including career development support.
Engage with executive leadership to ensure the availability of skilled personnel.
Conduct safety assessments for aircraft, systems, sub-systems, and support products, including hazard identification, HAZOP analysis, and fault/event tree analysis.
Develop and review Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis (ZHA) reports to support certification.
Maintain hazard logs and generate safety assessments and justifications.
Review certification evidence and provide safety certification arguments.
Support risk assessments for emergent issues to ensure continued airworthiness.
Required Skills & Experience:
Essential:
HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a STEM subject, or relevant experience.
Experience in Safety Engineering with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desirable:
Background in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering in a military airborne platform design environment.
Familiarity with safety standards such as UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, EN 61508.
Experience with safety toolsets such as Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation (GSN).
Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders, as well as external and partner stakeholders.
Leadership experience or potential to grow into a leadership role.
