Service and Maintenance Engineer
We're recruiting for a leading company in the power generation sector, offering a competitive package and career growth.
Service & maintain MAN CHP units
Location: Remote; Reading and surrounding areas - Area coved is from Gillingham to Newport in Wales and from the M4 to Bournemouth and Portsmouth other travel may be required outside this area on an occasional basis. It may also be necessary to spend the occasional night away but that is no more than 1or 2 nights a month and is not every month.
- Salary: £44,750 GROSS PA
- Start: ASAP

It may also be necessary to spend the occasional night away but that is no more than 1or 2 nights a month and is not every month.
- 40hr per week
- No - overtime (we operate a Credit hours)
- Monday to Friday; No weekend call outs
- Up to 10% salary bonus scheme
- Company Van (no private use), Laptop, Phone etc supplied.
- Candidate to supply all own basic tools - specialist tools supplied by us.
- 31 days holiday per year (including applicable public holidays) (company has mandatory Christmas shutdown)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on CHP units to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in CHP engines and systems.
- Conduct major and minor overhauls on gas and diesel CHP engines.
- Monitor and analyse engine performance, emissions, and efficiency, adjusting as needed.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to detect issues in control systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical components.
- Replace worn-out or faulty parts, including filters, sensors, spark plugs, ignition systems, alternators, and heat exchangers.
- Electrical & Mechanical Work: Work on generators, switchgear, and control panels, ensuring correct operation and safety compliance.
- Follow industry standards and regulations, including environmental and safety guidelines.
- Communicate with clients regarding maintenance schedules, service reports, and potential system upgrades.
- Maintain detailed service records, reports, and logs for each unit serviced.
