The Role:
Electrical Architect plays a crucial role in every stage of development, from initial concept design through to production and ongoing support. This position offers a valuable opportunity for those looking to enhance their engineering expertise.
So, what will you be doing as an Electrical Architect?
- Defining and determining:
- System electrical requirements
- Interface specifications and characteristics between subsystems and equipment
- Power architecture, including power budget and profiles
- Data communication and processing frameworks
- Requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding, and screening
- Signal safety, including the routing of safety-related signals
- Supporting testing and fault-finding activities during compatibility checks, risk mitigation, system proving/qualification, and integration
- Reviewing and drafting reports, guidelines, and procedures
- Conducting design assessments and analyses
- Working to defence and industry standards
- Attending and supporting design reviews
Additionally acting as the Equipment Manager for specific electrical/ electronic components, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the equipment throughout the development, qualification, and production phases on behalf of the project
- Representing the project's interests in defining and maintaining the requirements for the equipment
- Preparing Statements of Work for the relevant design authority
- Creating and updating schedules and activity plans for the equipment
- Coordinating with internal and external design authorities to ensure the timely delivery of hardware, software, and related deliverables, while meeting cost, quality, and performance standards
- Holding regular progress reviews with the equipment's design authority
- Reviewing qualification and verification evidence
- Monitoring and resolving any non-compliance issues related to the equipment
- Attending and supporting design reviews
What are we looking for in our next Electrical Architect?
Technical experience required:
- electrical/electronics
- interface definitions
- knowledge of defence/industry standards, etc.
- degree level qualification in a related subject
- systems engineering
- writing reports
Ideally experience working within defence industry however other engineering, manufacturing or production industries will be considered.
Experience within these other areas is also of interest but not essential:
- defence
- weapon systems
- power supplies
- actuators
- data communication
- sensors
- EMC
- Health Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS)
- Model Based Engineering (MBE)
