A dynamic, high-growth biotechnology company based in Edinburgh is seeking a talented Scientist with expertise in protein purification to join their Downstream Processing (DSP) team. About the Role: As a Scientist in Downstream Processing, you will be at the forefront of delivering next-generation biotechnologies that will shape the future of therapeutics, industrial products, and more. The company's work spans a range of industries including human health and environmental sustainability, making this role essential to helping them reach their ambitious goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate FPLC systems, such as the ÄKTA pure™, to perform protein purification processes.
- Work closely with both the DSP and analytical teams to achieve project goals and meet tight deadlines.
- Record experimental data meticulously, ensuring all information is accurate and well-documented.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a vibrant and dynamic environment, contributing to the collective success of the team.
- Present your findings clearly and concisely, both in written reports and oral presentations.
What You'll Need:
- A Bachelor's degree (Honours), Master's, or PhD in Biological or Chemical Sciences (or a closely related field). Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with ÄKTA pure™ or similar FPLC systems, and solid knowledge of chromatographic techniques like ion exchange, affinity, and hydrophobic interaction.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- If you have experience in Tangential Flow Filtration, ELISA, filtration techniques, or working within GMP/GLP environments, it's a bonus!
